It began as a simple question: How can we get the far-flung founding members of The Order of the Good Death together in one place? The conversation blossomed into what would become Death Salon.
We are anxious to collaborate with each other to launch death and dying into the future. Even more, we want to share our work with a wider audience and hear what you think. Death Salon allows that sharing to happen, providing us the opportunity to offer talks and events that are open to the public.
About the Artist: AJ Hawkins is on a mission to tell the world that “It’s Okay To Decay.” She joined the death positive movement while researching and creating her fine art project, The Reclamation, which centers on human decomposition and the necrobiome. Her next body of work, The Afterlight, processes her relationship to grief and eternity in the wake of her best friend’s death. When not in the studio, AJ runs KALMA, her death positive brand for the living, full of inspired, eco-conscious and curious goods for heart and hearth.
